Sunrise. First light breaks to the east. The entrance to the Port Stephens waterway is flanked by two rising "heads," of which north head makes a distinctive and prominent landmark from several vantage points along the peninsula. The lower south head is no less spectacular, with a brisk climb to the top offering 360 degree views over the bay to the west and the ocean to the east.
